Title: Taxable Personal Property Researcher-Inspector

Salary: $14.91 hr


TAXABLE PERSONAL PROPERTY RESEARCHER/INSPECTOR* (Auditor’s Office): Under limited supervision, determines the taxability of properties, using methods such as field inspection. The administration functions include researching, inspecting and presenting recommendations for action. Serves as a subject matter expert in regards to ensuring that all personal property is being properly taxed in accordance with South Carolina Code of Law and Beaufort County Ordinances.


  • High School Diploma; college degree in Business Administration preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience involving research, analyzing information and analytical thinking
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, including the ability to understand and explain the basic terms of state and local laws
  • Working knowledge of office technology and computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office products
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

*This position serves at the pleasure of an elected official.

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
