COMMERCIAL COMBINATION INSPECTOR/FIRE MARSHAL: Conducts combination building and fire inspections to ensure that permitted work relating to commercial and residential buildings comply with applicable codes and regulations. Other duties include performing a variety of plan review and enforcement duties to ensure code compliance.

  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree with coursework emphasis in construction, fire science, related field supplemented by three (3) years of experience working with building plans and codes 

OR:

  • Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in the field of construction/fire service
  • Must possess certification from the State of South Carolina as a Combination Commercial Inspector and Fire Inspector I & II, or equivalent certification that grants authorization to perform the duties as a combination commercial/fire inspector; or achieve one (1) certification within first year of employment, then a maximum of one (1) year for each additional certification until fully certified under state law to perform the duties as a combination commercial/fire inspector with specialty certification in Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire
