Title: Clerk to Council - County Council

Salary: $52,000 DOQ

CLERK TO COUNCIL:  Reporting to the Beaufort County Council Chairperson and the County Administrator, this position performs a wide variety of complex administrative, research, and office management duties for County Council.  Interacts frequently with diverse groups, committees, boards, County employees, and citizens; accurately processes large volumes of information and data in various forms for distribution and permanent record. Develops, manages, coordinates and attends all County Council meetings.



  • Associate’s Degree in business, public administration or closely related field;  Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Five years progressively responsible executive administration experience in a public sector environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills
  • Demonstrated track record of discretion and good judgment
  • High level of accuracy, timeliness, dependability and attention to detail essential
  • Demonstrated experience in working well with diverse groups including citizens, members of Council, County Administration, members of various committees, commissions, and other external agencies
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and website maintenance
  • Knowledge of Granicus Agenda Management Suite preferred
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to meet the needs of County Council
