County Government Services

A 1980 study by the South Carolina General Assembly revealed that all 46 counties offered law enforcement, tax assessment, emergency medical services, land records, and election services on a county-wide basis. Forty-four out of the 46 counties offered alcohol/drug programs, aging programs, and libraries. Forty-two counties provided juvenile/family court services, disaster preparedness, home health, mental health, and solid waste disposal services. This section will briefly examine some of the major services performed by county government in South Carolina.
