Title: Senior Library Assistant Children's Services - St Helena

Salary: $12.03 hr


SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT CHILDREN’S SERVICES (St Helena Branch*):  Works in a team with Branch manager and other children’s department staff providing service to library customers through programming, circulation, reference, and reader’s advisory. Correctly enters information into library database, explains library policies and procedures while helping customers get library cards, checking materials in and out, signing up for internet access and handling routine complaints. Handles money accurately, files, processes requests and instructs users in use of library catalog as well as copiers. 


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of college
  • Three (3) years of library work experience, at least one (1) year of which was directly working with children
  • Excellent customer service, organizational and computer skills
  • Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Library school students are encouraged to apply

 *Beaufort County has various facilities within the county, and many departments have multiple offices to serve our citizens.  Management reserves the right to transfer employees from one location to another within the county at any time based on business need.  Employees will be given as much notice as possible prior to a change in work location.

 All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation. EOE.
