Title: Network Administrator - IT Systems Management

Salary: $75,000 annually DOQ



  • Performs network administration and planning for IT-network infrastructure, to include network equipment, servers, and software applications.
  • Designs, implements, maintains and provides support for Beaufort County’s computer networks, communications systems and related components.
  • Works as a team member with other technical staff to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.  
  • Performs a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco and AeroHive devices.
  • Evaluates, tests, and deploys all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure.
  • Assists in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices.
  • Proactively monitors all network devices and services.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
  • Manages and troubleshoots network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
  • Provides on-call support during non-business hours on a rotating basis.



  • Must have an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must be a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNA). Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred.
  • Six (6) years minimum experience in all phases of information technology processing to include working with network monitoring tools, administration of LAN/WAN systems and maintenance, hardware and software analysis, troubleshooting and support in heterogeneous computing environments.
  • Strong background in the installation, layout, and maintenance of network components.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network principles and practices, including items such as Cisco VOIP (required), TCP/IP, Vlans, switching, ACLs, ASAs, routing and routing protocols, security, firewalls and DNS.



  • Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to deal with peers and management using tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot quickly and work well under pressure.
  • Experience with general productivity and utility software, including Microsoft Office, web browsers, e-mail clients, anti-virus clients.
  • In-depth understanding of IP routing, configuration, troubleshooting of switched and routed networks.
  • Knowledge of general wiring specifications.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, operating systems and networking protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity and positive attitude.
