Title: Mosquito Control Specialist

Salary: $14.91 hr


MOSQUITO CONTROL SPECIALIST: Conducts field surveys to locate immature and adult mosquitoes, applies public health insecticides safely and effectively and records data accurately. Also, complies with State/Federal pesticide regulations.


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational/technical training in mosquito control, pest control, chemical mixing and pesticide application
  • Two (2) years experience and/or training in mosquito control, pest control, chemical mixing, and/or pesticide application
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must possess and maintain (or obtain within six months of hire date) a valid South Carolina Certified Pesticide Applicators License (including Category 8-Public Health Control) as issued by Clemson Department of Pesticide Regulation
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required
  • Must be computer proficiency, able to work as a team member, have a positive attitude and be detail oriented
  • Working knowledge with Leading Eagle MapVision (data management) is preferred
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
