EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICE COORDINATOR (DSN) Bluffton: Under general supervision of the Early Intervention Supervisor, provides service coordination and community-based training for young children with developmental delays and their families. Refers the consumers to other agencies for services as appropriate. Works in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of the family, professionals and others interested in ensuring needs are addressed. Performs diversified duties requiring judgment in the broader aspects of established practices and procedures for the Beaufort County Disabilities and Special Needs Department (BCDSN). This position will be housed in the Bluffton/Hilton Head Office.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in child development, early childhood special education, psychology, social work or related field
  • One (1) year documented experience in the field of early childhood education or one (1) year experience working with infants and toddlers or one (1) year experience with children ages birth to five (5) years with disabilities
  • Must possess & maintain, or obtain South Carolina Infant/Toddler Certificate
  • Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office, email and data entry
  • Independent time management skills, strong attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with young children and families from a variety of backgrounds
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to work flexible hours and days, including weekends and holidays in an emergency (Scheduled work hours are 8-5 Monday through Friday with possible occasional evenings and holidays)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with no DUI convictions within the past five years      
  • No convictions for criminal domestic violence, any criminal violence, crime of moral turpitude or crime which carries a sentence of one or more years
  • Bilingual preferred
  • An extensive background check will be conducted on all applicants considered for this position

 

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
